Come to Me - The Spirit and the Bride say come - Jason Humphreys
As we close our Advent series, we shift our attention from the first Advent (Jesus’ coming in humility) to the second Advent (Jesus’ coming again in glory). Christmas reminds us that Jesus came, but communion reminds us that He is also coming again. In this message we explore how the end of the story gives meaning to the whole journey, and how God forms in us a deeper longing for Christ’s return. We read from Revelation 22, reflect on Philippians 3, and then take communion from 1 Corinthians 11, where Paul says we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. If you are watching online, you are welcome to take a moment to prepare bread and wine or juice and share communion as you worship with us. **Key Scriptures** Revelation 22:12–20 Isaiah 60:22 Philippians 3:13–21 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 Ecclesiastes 3:11 **Timestamps** 0:00 Welcome and series recap: “Come to Me… I will give you rest” 1:09 The church’s response: “The Spirit and the bride say, Come” (Rev 22) 2:15 The ending gives meaning to the story 5:12 Why we don’t have a “Second Coming” celebration day (yet) 6:41 God forms longing over time: two ways 7:33 Formation step 1: return to the end of the story (Scripture) 9:36 Formation step 2: communion as forward looking practice 10:23 Revelation 22 reading and “I am coming soon” 10:50 Isaiah 60:22: “quickly in its time” 14:17 The Spirit and the bride: learning to desire what the Spirit desires 18:09 Honest reflection: why we can struggle to want Jesus to come soon 20:57 Philippians 3: pressing on, eagerly waiting 26:08 The fruit of a future focused life 27:08 Communion: remembering and proclaiming until He comes (1 Cor 11) 30:10 Closing prayer #Advent #Communion #christmas #Revelation22 #ComeLordJesus #ChristianHope #returnofchrist

Baptism Sunday - Jason Humphreys
In this message, Pastor Jason unpacks the powerful biblical story behind baptism, tracing its meaning all the way from Genesis 1 to Jesus’ Great Commission in Matthew 28 and Paul’s teaching in Romans 6. Baptism isn’t just a ritual. It’s a picture of new creation, coming up out of the waters to live a new life with God. Just as the Spirit of God hovered over the chaos waters in Genesis and brought forth life, so He meets us in baptism to make us new. Whether you’re exploring faith, preparing for baptism, or simply wanting to reflect again on what it means to follow Jesus, this message will help you see the beauty and invitation of new life in Him. 📖 Key Scriptures: Genesis 1 : 1–10 | Psalm 104 : 7–9 | Matthew 28 : 18–20 | Acts 2 : 38 | Romans 6 : 1–4 🙏 Connect with us: 🌐 https://www.chilternchurch.org.uk 📸 Follow us on Instagram: @chilternchurchuk ⸻ #Baptism #NewCreation #FollowJesus #ChilternChurch #Faith #ChristianTeaching #Genesis #Romans6 #Matthew28 #ChurchOnline
