Important Chiltern Church Announcement
Updated 17 March 2020
Dear Church Family,
As a result of the announcements on Monday and further health advice we have now received, the trustees have made the very difficult decision to suspend all our gathered ministry at the church until further notice.
We would also like to say that while we recognise that the suspension of certain forms of ministry is important and necessary, the focus of this season will not be on what we must stop doing, but rather on ‘what can we do’ for God, the church and the community in this time of crisis.
The team had anticipated that this might happen and had already began planning for this eventuality. The leadership team will be meeting tonight to step up, expand and action this planning. We hope that while we may not be able to meet in the ways we normally would, that we will still, with God’s strength, forge forwards the ministry of the kingdom; seeking to bless the church and our community with God’s hope and peace.
What does this mean for us?
This means that all meetings at the church, both midweek meetings (like Cameo, Monday Club and Tots & Toys) and weekend meetings (like Sunday morning and evening worship and Messy Church) have now been postponed. We are also postponing all connect groups for the time being.
We will be in regular communication over email, Facebook and on the website. While we may not be able to meet all together at our regular events, we will still be streaming all our major services on the YouTube channel (see link below). This we hope to do wherever possible from the church with a small team of volunteers (less than 10). More details on this to follow this week.
These online services can be accessed here.
We do anticipate in this time that there are still going to be a number of ways for people to serve and bless the community and we hope to communicate those possibilities as soon as possible.
Please know the leadership in the church is praying for the whole church at this time and would ask for your prayers as we seek God’s will for this unprecedented time.
We recommend that people make themselves aware of the latest government advice and guidance which in this changing situation is best seen online at the following address.
Please know we do hope to bring our gathered meetings back as soon as is safely possible and the team of trustees dedicated to overseeing this situation will continue to meet regularly to monitor the situation as it progresses.
If you have questions on the church's response, please feel free to be in touch with me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Bimpe (email@example.com).
Jason (on behalf of the team)
